[TURT: Updates From The Road] So Far So Good

We're at the halfway mark of the overseas phase of TURT. So far, the band has completed two gigs, one of which was an evangelistic concert held at Prince of Songkhla University. The schedule on the road has been tight, with the students having to undergo cultural training, band rehearsals, and having to adjust to new surroundings and weather.

Thanksgivings:
1. The band, including Manson who arrived later, are safe and sound in Hatyai.
2. The guys in the band are taking initiative in their respective roles, especially in the area of managing the sound equipment. This has helped to ease the load on the rest of the band during rehearsals and gigs.
3. So far the team has had great times of prayer, and had fruitful debriefing sessions after each gig.

Prayer Requests:

1. Physical sustenance. There have been a few cases of stomach upset due to food, and also lack of sleep because of the mosquitoes and dip in temperature at night. Despite these, the students in the band are still running high in spirits at the moment, and for this we are thankful. Pray the high morale continues for the remainder of the trip.

2. Sound system. The band has just switched to using in-ear monitors (instead of conventional speakers to hear themselves), pray that they can adjust to it quickly.

Today & Tomorrow:
This afternoon the band is heading out to Thaksin University to conduct a promo for their concert tomorrow afternoon. Besides giving out flyers, the students will also take some time to interact with the people in the campus, and in addition prayer walk around the premises. Do pray for a good time of connecting with the students of Thaksin University, and even for deep spiritual discussions.

Thank you for standing with us in prayer!

[Updates From The Road] TURTers have arrived in Thailand

We're pleased to inform that the TURT team has arrived safely in Thailand, and have already begun setting up for rehearsal this evening. Do pray for them as they get settled in and work through some changes in the band equipment configuration. Pray also that they get good rest tonight.

On a slightly different note Manson, our team's assistant leader, has successfully recovered his passport after sweating through the last few nights looking for it. He was unable to fly with the team this morning, but will leave for Thailand tomorrow morning, provided he gets a ticket in time.

In all things are shaping up well despite the various challenges we've had. We appreciate your continued prayer support!

For those who couldn't make it, thank you once again for investing into His Kingdom and into our lives. For me, I am already extremely blessed by the past month of equipping, training and heart preparation and I am looking forward for the greater things to come on the road. It is also my privilege to meet and be able to serve alongside many wonderful fellow brothers and sisters-in-Christ from different churches. To me, this unity is truly 1 body of Christ, the church.

I want to quote Daniel's sharing on how God has been faithful.

I think God's been showing me/us(TURT) His faithfulness. His providence. Just yesterday as we were packing up the equipment, we needed to buy some bubblewrap to pad the subwoofer we're bringing over as we dont have a case for it. Then lo and behold, just outside the door as we were going to the toilet, was a trash bin. Don't worry that's not the end. Beside the trash bin was, lots and lots of thick plastic sheets! The plastic sheets were numerous enough and thick enough to be cushiony like bubble wrap! It worked perfectly and i think our faith level really rose a notch! :)

TURT 2010 [Pics]: Photos from the Women's Retreat!!

Just in case you were wondering... we haven't forgotten the pictures of the women's retreat! Just that the photos took some time to reach this contributor... =P

Anyway the ladies had an enjoyable time making scrapbooks for themselves, and this was followed by some meaningful time of sharing and connecting with one another - all the way till nearly midnight!

TURT 2010 [Pics]: Action from the Men's Retreat!!

Yesterday we sent the men out for a day of hanging out with one another, shooting each other over paintball and of course, food. The result was FUN FUN and more FUN. The guys relived their NS days by donning their army greens at the Paintball park. It almost felt as if we were reporting for reservist duties, except that instead of real guns, we had paintball markers (essentially guns that fire paintball pellets). Had dinner over Golden Pillow's chicken and mutton curries, followed by a more sombre time of sharing. Men usually are people of few words, so it was really heartwarming to have the few hours of authentic sharing of our lives.  =)

TURT 2010 [Pics]: Story Coaching + Personal Practice!

What's a day of TURT without the students being hard at work? This morning the TURTers are busy with personal practice on their instruments, and for the four who who'll be sharing their testimonies, they are sweating over crafting their personal stories with their story coaches. =)

TURT 2010 [Pic]: Working hard through a public holiday!

It was the Vesak Day public holiday last friday. However due to the tight rehearsal and class schedule in TURT, we came back anyway for a time of prayer intercession in the morning, followed by rehearsal in the afternoon. It was heartwarming to see God begin to fill our hearts with burden and compassion for the Thai people.
